FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION

The Sustainable Schools Initiative by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi is a comprehensive programme that activates eco-consciousness in UAE's educational settings. Established in 2009, it brings together students, parents, and educators in a united effort towards environmental stewardship through four key components: Green School Audit, Eco Clubs, Train the Trainer, and Field Trips.
INITIATIVE OVERVIEW

GREEN SCHOOL AUDIT

The Green School Audit is an evaluative tool that offers schools an avenue for self-assessment, performance measurement, and guided improvement. It provides a framework to evaluate environmental impacts, set targets, and commit to a long-term plan for sustainability within school premises.

ECO CLUBS & FIELD TRIPS

Eco Clubs in registered schools serve as environmental hubs. Field Trips provide students with natural experiences. While Eco Clubs champion sustainability, Field Trips focus on real-world exploration. Together, they're instrumental in fostering environmental awareness and action.

TRAIN THE TRAINER

This component focuses on the professional development of educators, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to incorporate environmental education into the mainstream curriculum. It aims to ensure that teachers from various backgrounds speak the same language when it comes to sustainability, thus enhancing learning across the board.
